David Powley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Cremation Service - Rocky Hill on Mar. 19, 2026.
David G. Powley (Dave), age 64, passed away on March 13, 2026. David was born on June 1, 1961 in Rockville, CT to the late Dallas Wilbur Powley & Eleanor (Parrish-Powley) Taraschuk. He dedicated much of his career life perfecting his woodworking craft. He enjoyed cranking his music up, a well-cooked steak, and kicking back in nature or to watch a good football game. He prioritized connecting with his family and friends through going for walks, a good meal or simple phone call.

David is survived by his daughter Samantha (Powley) Marinelli, her husband, Matthew Marinelli, and his grandchildren, Rowan & Elliot Marinelli of Salem, his daughter, Erica Powley of Colchester, his step-children Lisa Viccaro and Nicholas Viccaro and his step-grandchildren, Damon Jansky, Shea Sweet & Sydney Viccaro. He is also survived by his siblings, Bethann Powley Jacob and her husband John Jacob of Torrington, Bradley J Powley and his wife Beverly Powley of Mebane, NC, Katherine B (Powley) Dydyn and her husband John Dydyn of South Windsor, along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends and extended family. David was predeceased by his sister Devra L (Powley) George and survived by her husband Robert M. George of Wethersfield.

David will be remembered for his bold, creative and intellectual mind, his passionate beliefs and the many beautiful projects he built. Dave's known for going with the grain in his woodworking, but against it in life. His life will be celebrated by his family and friends on March 22, 2026 at 3p.m. at the Arch II in Rocky Hill, CT.
