David A. Price, Cumberland, passed away on November 11, 2025, at the age of 78. Born December 7, 1946, he was the son of the late John Price, Sr., and Betty (Rice) Price. In addition, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Kenneth and Angela Troutman, his sister and husband, Jean and Gerald Rowley, and nephew, Jeffrey Harbel.
Dave was a 1964 graduate of Fort Hill High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in both baseball and football. Following high school, he attended Allegany Community College and served his country as a member of the Maryland Army National Guard. He was employed by Acme Markets at White Oaks, until its closure in 1990. He retired from his produce manager position with Giant Eagle Market in Bedford, PA, in 2013, where he was employed for 23 years. He was also a member of the Goodfellowship Club.
An avid Baltimore Orioles' fan, Dave kept active enjoying the sports he loved. He coached JCP soccer and both Little League and Hot Stove baseball. He served as Assistant Baseball Coach at Bishop Walsh High School for JV, and later, varsity baseball in 1997, the year BW won the Maryland State Private School Championship. One could not speak of Dave without mentioning his love of the outdoors, as he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed planting flowers and caring for his beautiful lawn.
Surviving are his loving wife, Linda, and son, Nathan (Amy), and granddaughter, Ava; brother, John (Cyndi); sisters-in-law, Cynthia Harbel (Bill), and Becky McCunn; nieces, Karen Hickman (Geoff), Pamela Paualaisa, and Sara Heyduk (Brandon) and, nephews, Darren Price (Windy), Eric Harbel, Steve Rowley (Kathy), Sean McCunn (Lindsey), numerous great-nieces and nephews, and his precious Yorkie pup, Mazie.
Per his wishes, Dave will be cremated. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. on Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, November 14th, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with a service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Fr. Stephen Fernandes, OFM, Cap officiating.
His inurnment will be private, and take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family requests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Western Maryland Food Bank, www.wmdfoodbank.org/donate/ or by mail, to: P.O. Box 243, Cumberland, MD 21501-0243.
