David Dean Rabbit Sr

David Dean Rabbit, Sr. was born on December 19, 1965 in Pine Ridge, SD to Narcisse Rabbit and Betty Jane (Goings) Rabbit. Dave made his journey to the Spirit World on May 28, 2025 at his home in Pine Ridge, SD.
David did his schooling all throughout Pine Ridge from Kindergarten to 12th grade, he was the true meaning to being a Thorpe! He then continued his education at the OLC College. David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps right out of High School from 1984 to 1987 after returning home he met the love of his life, Katherine Water and they were married on November 7, 1987 together they had beautiful children.
David continued on his working career in Hahn Construction, O'Bryan Construction, Crazy Horse Construction, Open Range Beef, Buffalo Chip Security, Wolf Creek PAC Board, American Horse School PAC, Accounting, Treasurer for the tribe from 2000-2002, 2002-2004, Alejandro Trucking, Pass Creek Legion POST 317, Data Clerk, President District School Board AHS, PAC AHS, Business, AIHEC, and AHS School Board from 1994-1999.
David is survived by the love of his life, Katherine Water-Rabbit; children, Alynn (Albert), Chiffon (Duane), Jennier (Jason), Ashley (Charles), Jovon (Eric), David, Jr. (Tasia), and Tekawitha (Lyle), sisters, Marlys, Lessanes (Katlin), LeAnn (Gabby), Kathy Dondi Wilson; brothers, Ben Smith and Narcisse Shields; aunts, Lola, Francine, Bonnie, Debbie, and Darla; grandchildren, Liana, Makaylyn, Ava, Desmond, Alex, Myrtle, Naudicia, Andre, Angelo, Jr., Aubrey, Ariana, Asia, Precious, Paisley, Kayden Dean, Adelia, Ariel, Addison, Isabella, Tobias, Antwon, Azalea; great grandchildren, Kanan and Kylie; and numerous nieces, nephews, & relatives.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Narcisse and Jane Rabbit; brothers, Gerald Smith and Ernie Goings; nephews, Johnny Red Hawk and Whitney Rabbit; cousin, Francis Killer; aunts, Lessanes Killer and Katherine Janis; paternal grandparents, Edmond St. John, Sr. and Mildred Rabbit; maternal grandparents, Hopson Henry Goings and Mary Chief-Goings; and his dog, Tasunk Rabbit.
