A Memorial Service for David Radcliffe, age 74, of Spirit Lake, will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be Wednesday, August, 14, 2024, from 5-7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
David Ward Radcliffe the son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Edgar) Radcliffe, was born on September 14th, 1949 in LeMars, Iowa. David spent his early years in Marcus, Iowa, and moved to Sherman, SD with his family, then moved to Spirit Lake in 1959. He attended Spirit Lake Schools and graduated in 1968.
David worked for Floyd Gilbert Construction, and later in the diesel plant Iowa Electric Light and Power Company, then as a truck driver for 20+ years, starting out hauling seed for Farmers Feed and Grain, then moving to International Transport/Schneider as an owner/operator, hauling a lowboy trailer with oversized loads from farm related implements to military equipment. David was able to visit all 48 continental states, as well as Canada through his trucking travels. David was a fireman for the Spirit Lake Fire Department 1978-1983. He also worked for PCI Construction, HTC in Milford, Kidd Construction/Radcliffe Directional Drilling of Spirit Lake.
David remarried Jeanette Pray on November 26th, 2002 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He enjoyed gardening and riding his Polaris Ranger, and picking asparagus. Most summers you could find him watching his granddaughter, Brenna, play softball. David enjoyed spending time at ‘The Round Table’. He cherished his time spent with his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife Jeanette Radcliffe; son, Jess (Tracey) Radcliffe of Milford, Iowa, daughter, Amy (Mark) Benge and their children Brenna and Keagan of Spirit Lake, Iowa; step-sons Troy (Marsha) Janisch of Roseau, Minnesota and their children Tiana (Kyler) Hites, Shantel (Grant) Fogel and their son Anden, and Sierra (Robby) Stenson, and Todd (Sheryl) Janisch of Cole Camp, Missouri and children Ashley, Victoria and Samantha; brother John; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Dorothy Radcliffe, brothers Tom and Jim Radcliffe.
David passed away at his home on Friday, August 9th, 2024.
