David W. Rank

Mr. David W. Rank, 94, of Ilion, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley in Ilion, with his loving family by his side.

David was born on January 16, 1931, in Cleveland, NY, the son of Arthur and Carlotta (Lindfield) Rank. He was educated locally and graduated from Utica Free Academy. David proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On March 26, 1955, David was united in marriage to the love of his life, June E. Kratzenberg. Together, they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage filled with love and happiness. For 31 years, David was employed as a Derrick Boat Captain with the New York State Canal System. David enjoyed watching television-especially westerns-swimming, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and was of the Protestant faith. Above all, David will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Mr. Rank is survived by his beloved wife, June; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Robert Smith of Yorkville; his daughter-in-law, Paula Rank of Alabama; four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Rank, Jason Smith, Justina Smith, and Megan (Cary) Walker; nine adored great-grandchildren, Alexis Rank Massucci, Raina Rank, Tiffany Rank, Brayden Robinson, Romello Robinson, Tessa Walker, Kaitlyn Walker, Carson Walker and Asher Rank and his treasured great-great-granddaughter, Willow Scott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his sons, Michael Rank and David G. Rank; his grandson, Josh Rank; and his brother, Harry (Marcy) Rank.

In keeping with David's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
