Born April 22, 1932, in Port Angeles, Washington to Agnes Margaret (Van Wieringen) and Guy Ola Partridge.
David started working at the Port Angeles Evening News in 1943 as a paper boy at age 11. Advanced to the circulation department at age 15. Two years later, David was promoted to Assistant Circulation Manager and Carrier Route Supervisor.
After graduating from Port Angeles High School in 1950, David joined the military. A Korean Navy Air Corps veteran, he served with the 101st Air Group at North Island and Miramar Air Stations in San Diego, California, as well as Norfolk, Virginia. Participated during the Korean War in 1952, aboard the Attack Aircraft Carrier USS Kearsarge CVA. Also toured the Mediterranean Sea on the Attack Aircraft Carrier USS Randolph CVA participating in operations with NATO forces in 1953-1954.
After four years of service, David returned to the Port Angeles Evening News in August 1955, starting out as a printer apprentice then promoted to the classified ad department where he pioneered outside classified ad sales for Real Estate and Auto Dealers. Later he advanced to the display advertising department spending the next three years under the "GI Bill" on the job training program.
In 1961, David joined the newly formed weekly newspaper "The Shopping News" (later changing its name to Clallam County Chronicle) as General Manager and Advertising Director for 22 years, eventually returning to Port Angeles Daily News in March of 1983 as an advertising sale executive. Semi-retired from Peninsula Daily News in 1995 and fully retired in March of 2000.
David married Shirley Alyene Uvila in 1953. Shirley was also a Port Angeles High School graduate (1952). David and Shirley had three children, daughter Kim Deone, son Mitchel David, daughter Darcey Ann and one grandchild Gianna Micha'ella. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family in Mazatlán in 2003 and in 2023 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends in Colorado.
David loved his sports. He played for 15 years for Crown Z Cafe and P.A. Merchants fast-pitch baseball teams qualifying for many state tournaments. He also played and coached the YMCA Men's Industrial Basketball League. Highlights were winning first place in the Senior YMCA basketball tournament between Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Canada held in Vancouver Canada in 1958. David also loved and competed in swimming, tying for first place in the 1949 Elks swim meet championship for both swimming and diving. He also had a passion for playing golf and was a member of the Peninsula Golf Course for almost 40 years (before moving to Colorado) driving around with his best friends in their pink golf cart every Thursday. He was honored to receive a top 10 award as the most improved first year golfer in the nation.
David was elected as Commissioner of the Little League Football organization for five years, which involved over 130 boys aged 10-14 along with their coaches.
He served on the City of Port Angeles Park Board for three years, was the Master of Ceremony for his 1950 high school class reunions, and a member of the American Legion for 70 years.
David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Angeles and the Broomfield United Methodist Church in Broomfield, Colorado serving as member and chairperson on several committees. He enjoyed singing as a soloist in both churches and in many assisted living facilities. He was also a tenor in the Broomfield Methodist Church choir.
David's other hobbies were lawn and gardening care, slalom water skiing, swimming, springboard and high tower diving at Olympic Hot Springs and his memorable three dives off his aircraft carrier hanger deck at 44 ft. For his 50th birthday in the month of April, David dove off Devil's Punchbowl at Lake Crescent. He would take his kids and nieces/nephews snow skiing, salmon, trout, steelhead fishing, crabbing/clamming and hiking and for many years entering the kid and adult annual salmon derbies. His favorite area on the Olympic Peninsula was the magical scenery of Lake Crescent.
David and Shirley moved to Westminster Colorado in December 2005 to be close to their family. He was elected to the board of directors as Vice President at Ranch Creek Villas in Westminster. Later, was appointed as Architectural and Landscape Chairperson at Highlands @ Westbury.
He had a passion for traveling to Mexico, Egypt, Hawaii, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, Algeria, Greece, Sicily, Canada and many states throughout the US.
Proceeded in death was his wife Shirley of over 70 years (2024), son Mitchel (1972), sister Thelma Henry (1990) of San Jose CA, twin sister's Audrey Scrimgeour (2001) and Jane Kimball (2012) of Elma WA, sister Patricia Rogers (2022) of San Jose CA, brothers John (Jack) Partridge and Robert Partridge (2021) both of Port Angeles.
Survived by daughter Kim Kostelnik, (Dan Kostelnik), daughter Darcey Borzileri (Mike Borzileri), and granddaughter Gianna Borzileri, all from the Denver Colorado area. Sister-in-law Jacolyn Partridge of Port Angeles and many cousins, nieces, nephews, step-granddaughters, and many longtime friends.

A service in David's honor will be held at Broomfield United Methodist Church in Broomfield, Colorado on December 5th, 2025 at 1:00pm, family and friends welcomed. In addition, a military honored burial will take place on February 27th, 2026 at 12:00pm at Ocean View Cemetery in Port Angeles for both David and Shirley.
