Coach David Edward Rhodes

David Edward Rhodes, age 59, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2023. He was born on September 22, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio to Charles E. Rhodes and Shirley A. (Payne) Rhodes. He is proceeded in death by his oldest grand-daughter Aniyah'Rae Lyann Rhodes-Jones.
David graduated from Licking Heights High School (Class of 1982). He also served a brief time in the Air Force Reserves. David spent most of his time dedicated to his 2 daughters and supporting them through their academic and athletic careers. He also was one of the biggest supporters of his 4 grandchildren and at every event possible. David dedicated his life to the community, most notably the basketball community. With over 30 years in the basketball world, he is most known for the last 15 that he spent coaching and mentoring student athletes of the Lady Nubian (Africentric) Basketball team.
He was previously married to Sara Beth Barbary. Together they had two children: Briana and Sariah Rhodes.
David will be missed by his children and four beautiful grandchildren: Audree'Jai, Riley'Mae, Jaxon Royal and Judah Reign. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings: Wendell A. Rhodes, Tia L. Rhodes, Richard E. Rhodes; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.).
Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
