David R. Ridenour

David Randall Ridenour, 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, February 23, 2026 at home.

David was born on November 22, 1945 in Shelby to the late Shirley Joan (Young) and Clayton Ridenour.

David graduated from Attica High School and continued his education at Bowling Green State University Firelands. He proudly earned his private pilot's license, reflecting his love of aviation and adventure. Throughout his life, David held a variety of positions. He worked at Scott Paper Company and at NASA's Plum Brook Station, where he served in radiation controls. He also worked as a receiving manager at Elder-Beerman and Sears, and was employed by Bechtel McLaughlin. In addition, David managed the State Theater alongside the Jeffersons and was involved with the Community Theater.

David was deeply active in his church and community. He volunteered with the Welcome Table, assisted with Bloodmobiles, and participated in the Conestoga project. He served as a representative for Lutheran Memorial Home of Ohio and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A proud and longtime president of the Car Coddlers, David was also a member of the American Legion, the IAB Club, Eagles #444, Orioles Club and the Antique Automobile Club of America.

David is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Deanna (McVetta) Ridenour whom he married on April 8, 1967. He is also survived by his daughters, Shannon (Mark) Blevins and Shayri Lawson; grandchildren, Shayne (Ashley) Blevins, Shaun (Emma Kastor) Blevins, Madilynn Lawson, and Logan Lawson; great-grandchildren, Nola, Braxton and Cienna; brother, Michael Ridenour; brother-in-law, Dr. Rod McVetta; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, February 27th, 2026 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Meadow Green Funeral Home, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron Ohio with Pastor Michael Conklin presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
