David Lee Russell Sr., affectionately known as Dave to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 60, in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Born on October 5, 1964, to the late Diana and Denby Russell, Dave was a lifelong resident of Evansville, where he also bid farewell surrounded by his family.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Bobbi Russell, with whom he spent 20 cherished years, including 5 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his children, Siara (Jason) Harwell, David Lee (Chantel) Russell Jr., Zach (Airica) Russell, Dalton (Megan) Russell, Caleb Stone, Cory Stone, and Camron Stone. Dave took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Jordan, Jaxon, Jerimiah, Chase, Mason, Bearett, Braxton, Landon, Kyler, Kobe, and his two little princesses, Dalis and Mirra, who indeed stole his heart.
In addition to his immediate family, Dave's memory will be kept alive by his "garage gang," a group of friends who shared countless hours with him in the sanctuary of his garage. His lifelong friends and brothers in spirit, Kris Bretz, James Walters, and Brent Waters, who was his partner in crime, also survive him, as they reminisce on the adventures and bonds forged over the years. Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Russell, who is no doubt welcoming him with open arms.
Dave's professional life was as a mechanic, a trade where he excelled and which he deeply loved. His passion for building race cars was not merely a job but a calling, one that he pursued with dedication and an unrivaled attention to detail. His work was more than a means to an end; it was a canvas on which he painted his legacy, leaving behind a trail of roaring engines and awe-inspired onlookers.
Known to many as Uncle Buck, Dave had the remarkable ability to fix anything that came his way. His knack for giving directions was legendary; no one ever lost their way under his guidance. Beyond his mechanical talents, Dave was an avid motorcycle rider, relishing the freedom of the open road and the camaraderie of fellow bikers. His favorite saying was "Even Heaven can get a little smoky."
Dave's absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him. His unassuming wisdom, his infectious laughter, and the sheer force of his presence made him a cornerstone in the lives of many. He was a man who lived with integrity, loved with generosity, and laughed with his whole being. His stories, his teachings, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Dave's family and friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. As we say goodbye to David Lee Russell Sr., we take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Dave; your journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Visitation will be held Monday June 23, 2025, at the chapel of Peace Mausoleum from 11am until Service time at 12pm. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of David, please visit our floral store.

Chuck and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Bobbie and the rest of the family. We were one of his frequent visitors one of the garage gang up by Boonville. I´m telling you it was a blast and memories that we will hold forever, so many laughs , we thought we could solve all the problems of the world. I know one thing we surely miss those times, but we have those memories in our hearts forever, and each time I think of one of them, a smile appears upon my face !!!!
