David "Dave" L. Rutkowski, 80, has passed away, leaving behind a family who will remember
him with deep respect and affection. Dave was born on April 19, 1945, in South Bend to Matthew and Marjorie Jean (Clapp)
Rutkowski. He grew up with strength, loyalty, quiet determination, and a strong sense of independence. On February 24, 1968, he married Roberta "Bert" Marie Herriman, with whom
he built a life marked by hard work, mutual support, and a steadfast ability to navigate life's challenges together. He was preceded in death by Bert (2012), his parents, and his younger
brother, Mark Rutkowski (2024). He is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie (David) Buck of Colorado, and his son, Dereck Scott
(Kristi) Rutkowski of Arizona. Dave was grandfather to Amanda Marie (Chris) Montuori, Hunter Lee Buck, and Jacob Rowdi (Gabriella) Rutkowski, and great-grandfather to David Jacob
Rutkowski. He also leaves behind his sister, Lynn (Bob) Schult; his brother, Philip Rutkowski, and his sister-in-law, Pamela Rutkowski.
Dave served his country in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that reflected his strong sense of responsibility and discipline. His career as an electrical worker included many
years with Indiana & Michigan Power in Indiana, and the Department of Energy in Arizona.Throughout his professional life, he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Outside of work, Dave enjoyed spending time wrenching on cars, riding his Harley, working with his hands, reading, and helping others without seeking acknowledgment. These pursuits
reflected both his practical nature and his generous spirit. His membership with the Marine Riders MC of Michiana was a big part of his life. This
Community was his second family, providing "Rut" with adventure (many rides and trips to Europe), service to veterans, Toys for Tots, and parties that will go down in Club folklore.
Dave loved his Marine brothers and they loved him. The Rutkowski family is most grateful for their strong shoulders and continued help and fellowship.
His children would like to offer special thanks to our Aunt Pam for her unending support, advocacy, and help. We absolutely would have been lost without you. Aunt Lynn and Uncle Phil,
thank you for your care of our dad. And thank you to Cathy, who cared for him with excellence. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are scheduled. His family will hold
his memory close and honor him in their own personal ways. Dave will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he shared, the loyalty he
gave, and the steady strength that made him who he was
