David R. Saindon

David R. Saindon, aged 89, of Mtn. Home, ID passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on a cold, wintry night in Glasgow, MT, on December 30, 1935, to Roy and Mildred Saindon, Dave was the second of five children in a lively household. As the oldest of the three boys, he was often the ringleader of mischief and spontaneous adventures that would lead his siblings and cousins into countless escapades. Those days spent outside in the fresh air, playing with his siblings and cousins, forged fond memories that he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Glasgow High School in 1953, Dave went to work for the Montana Dakota Utilities. He furthered his education at Montana State University while proudly serving in the United States Army Reserve, balancing his studies with military duties. Following his honorable discharge, he found his calling as a draftsman at Glasgow Air Force Base. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Jan (Knudson) Saindon, at the local ice cream shop and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage, building a rich life filled with love and laughter. In September 1967, following the call of new opportunities, Dave and Jan relocated to Mountain Home, ID. As the Chief Planner for the Civil Engineering Squadron at Mountain Home Air Force Base, he established a reputation built on hard work, dedication, and an unwavering passion for helping others. Dave was not only a professional but also a mentor, inspiring those around him with his commitment to excellence in all endeavors. Above all his accomplishments, Dave's true joy came from being a devoted husband and father. He cherished the moments spent with Jan and their four beloved children. Family gatherings were filled with storytelling, shared experiences, and the simple pleasures of camping, visiting relatives in Montana and North Dakota, and enjoying favorite TV shows together. Through every challenge, he was a pillar of guidance and support, always ready with encouragement and love. Dave deepened his spiritual journey, being baptized into the Catholic Church in his late twenties. He grew to love the Mass and the Rosary, finding solace and strength in these traditions. He especially treasured the Saturday Rosary started by Joe and Kathy Ferbrache in the fall of 2020, uniting in prayer for the United States and for the intentions of family and loved ones. In his leisure time, Dave found fulfillment in the great outdoors and his creative pursuits. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips where he could appreciate nature's beauty. Woodworking became a cherished hobby, as did gardening and tinkering around in his garage. Always eager to share his knowledge, he inspired those around him to embrace their own passions. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Jan; his four children, Linn (Ken), Jann Marie (Evan), Mary Kaye (Jeff) and David; 15 grandchildren: Michael, Aaron, Braden, Carson, Garrett, Hallie, Gabi, Graci, Kole, Aubri, Isabelle, Ava, Faith, Elise, and Bennett; and four great-grandchildren: Arlo, Lorrene, Lincoln, and Hudson. He also leaves behind his sister, Marie; brother, Bobby; as well as many special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Emile Saindon; mother, Mildred Johnson Saindon; sister, Gloria Fuhrman; and brother, Gary Saindon. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him, a testament to a life lived with love, integrity, and a spirit of adventure. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mountain Home, ID at 12:00 PM, preceded by a Rosary at 11:30 AM.
