David Richard Sarson, 83, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on January 5, 2026.

David was born on February 24, 1942 in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada to Roy Sarson and Gwynneth (nee Zimmerman) Sarson. In 1947, his family emigrated to the United States to Uniontown, PA. In 1960, he enlisted in the Marines, and was stationed in Okinawa, and received an honorable discharge after four years of service. Upon his discharge, he attended Penn State where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.

David, or “Pops” as he was affectionately called by his family, enjoyed spending time working on his 1990 black Mustang. He was employed as an engineer for Verizon, retiring after 30 years.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia (nee Caldarelli) Sarson and his two sons Matthew Dominick and Michael David, and daughter-in-law, Lydia (nee Henry) Sarson. But he found his greatest joy in his dear grandchildren, Camryn Mary and Cole Matthew, children of Matthew and Erin (nee Donahue). Pops loved to tease his family, “put the kids to work”, and you never knew when a random cough drop would fly across the room at you! His “never say can’t!” attitude is a mindset the whole family will carry forward. He is also survived by his two sisters, Judith Loriso and Nancy Higgins, and was preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Roy.

At his request, a private memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
