David Stephen Shute. Born August 5, 1952, St. Anne Hospital, Chicago, IL. Deceased December

5, 2025, Telluride, Colorado

Beloved son of the late Stephen and Frances Shute. Loving brother to Barb Hrubec (Ken,

deceased), Judy and Joe Shute and Mary Kann (Dan). Uncle and Great Uncle to Jeff and Adam Hrubec,

Christy Hrubec Nader, Nicholas and Lucas Shute, Jocelyn, Micah and Izzy Hrubec, and Maddie Nader.

Dave also has a large family including Aunts and Uncle – Maryann Tomczak, and Helen and Paul Czech,

and many cousins.

Dave served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 – 1976 at the end of the Vietnam era and worked on

radar and electronics on military aircraft – B52s, AWACs and other surveillance planes. He had a

continuing knowledge and interest in military aircraft. After the military he worked in electronics with

his last position in quality control for Danaher Corporation.

Dave was a warm-hearted, fun-loving person who liked to tell jokes and stories. He loved giving

gifts, and if he knew someone liked something, he would buy it for them. He loved working on jigsaw

puzzles, and was an avid sports fan. Beyond family, and military aircraft, Dave's two greatest loves were

reading and skiing. Dave like to read suspense novels as well as political books. Some of his favorite

authors were: David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, James Patterson, Sandra Brown and Robert Ludlum.

Dave was a gifted skier and skied for over fifty years. He was a member of several ski clubs, most

recently active in Sanctuary Ski and Snowboard Club where he had many friends, He served there in

several leadership positions and also was very knowledgeable and skilled in planning many ski trips for

the club. Dave also was a representative on CMSC – Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council, where he

attended monthly meetings.

Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends.
