Botetourt Funeral Home and Crematory - Buchanan ChapelDavid W. Simmons, 67, of Buchanan, Virginia, passed away on February 14, 2026.
He is survived by his son, Bradley Wayne and Jessica Simmons; his daughter, Kristen “Tater” Simmons (Jason Redcross); and his cherished grandchildren, Sidney Simmons and Maddox Simmons. He shared a lifelong friendship with Carol Simmons, the mother of his children. He is also survived by his sister, Tammy Coffey (Jeffrey Coffey), and three beloved nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Dorothy Simmons, and his sister, Janet Simmons.
David was an avid fisherman, passionate about tending his garden and mowing grass for his family. He loved cheering for the Virginia Cavaliers and enjoyed picking on his sister and playfully fighting over his mom’s homemade pickles, a tradition that always brought laughter to the family. As an owner-operator of Simmons Logging, alongside his father and later his son, he took great pride in continuing the family legacy and the work he loved.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to his sister, Tammy, for her unwavering support and care during his final months.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14 at 3:00 p.m. at the Botetourt Event Center in Buchanan, Virginia. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
