David Sobotta

David D. Sobotta, 91, of Arcadia, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at Dove Healthcare in Osseo under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

David was born in Arcadia on September 6, 1934, to Frank and Katherine (Swietz) Sobotta. On October 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Abts at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia.

In 1966, Dave opened Sobotta's Grocery where he proudly operated the business until his retirement in 1994. After trading in the winter chill for the sunny Florida skies, Dave and Mary Lou enjoyed 25 blissful years soaking up the sun in Lehigh Acres.

An avid golfer, Dave hit an astounding 11 hole-in-ones and won the Club Championship 21 times. He also served on the Arcadia Fire Company and sat on the Board of Directors for the Arcadia Country Club.

David is survived by his daughter, Ann (Scott) Powers of Chippewa Falls; son, Sam (Anita) Sobotta of Arcadia; grandsons, Jordan (Amber) Manka of Trempealeau, Jared (Megan) Manka of Whitehall, Cole Sobotta and Max Sobotta both of Arcadia; great-grandson, Jayce Manka; sister-in-law, Jane Abts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lou; six brothers, Eugene, Orlando, Cornelius, Jerome, Dominic, and Frank; and sister, Bernice Klonecki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Holy Family Parish with Reverend Kyle Laylan officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the procession to Mass at 10:45 a.m. at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
