David Spradlin Obituary
David Lee "Dave" Spradlin, 55, of Albemarle County, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at his home. He was born on September 5, 1956, in Charlottesville, the son of Wilma H. Spradlin and the late Raymond L. Spradlin. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Teddy J. Spradlin. In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Mikie Spradlin and wife, Lisa, and their children, Landon and Madison; a daughter, Leigh Anne "Bitsy" Adcock and husband, Todd and their daughter, Parker; the mother of his children, Jean Spradlin; his siblings, Liz S. Farmer and husband, Steve, Eddie Ray Spradlin and wife, Penny, Anne Breeden and husband, Melvin, and Tracy Seale and Edy Bug Shiflett; a number of nieces and nephews; a loving companion, Kathy Ann Hughes and her children, Chrissy, Tommy, and grandson, Little Thomas; and his dogs, Nubbie and Trooper.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and riding horses with his family and friends. He was always willing to go the extra mile to lend a helping hand. He usually began his day at the local "hangout", the 620 Market where he had lots of stories to share that often provided folks with a unique nickname.
The family will receive friends at the Lake Christian Church at Lake Monticello from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011, at The Lake Christian Church with Pastor Randy Golladay officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or to the Lake Christian Church, 733 South Boston Road, Palmyra, VA 22963.
Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville is handling the arrangements.

I had the honor I think I being one of Dave's favorite "ugly" people. He used to tell me when I was little that I was so ugly they tied a chicken bone around my neck just so that the dogs would play with me.
I will miss him most this time of year I always got the most interesting christmas gift out of anyone. Always consisting of my "special statue" a bag of beans and a bag of m&m's(my favorite). But will never forget the onion I got which I cut up real nice and made him an onion pie and returned to him with cool whip and chocolate chips to hide the onion, dirt and rocks on the inside.
He was truely a genuine nice person and I will miss him very much. I hope that him and my Dad don't get into too much trouble till we can see them again. Just keep those fun memories flowing and always remember the good times and know that he is always still with you in your heart.

I would just like to take a second and thank every one for their thoughts and prayers, the phone calls and the visits. My uncle Dave was truly a genuine man. He touched many people, young and old. Whether you met him at the junk yard, on a roll back call, at a horse sale or ride, he always made sure you were taken care of. He cared deeply for his friends and family and was always quick to put a smile on your face. He truly was one of a kind. I am proud to have had the privilege to be his niece. I know that he is now resting at peace, and is smiling down upon us.

I've always known David Spradlin he and I were sweethearts in school. I was madly in love with him and it was easy to do. God put our lifes in different directiions, but our paths crossed many times. To Our Community -
First of all, we all appreciate the prayers, phone calls, and the visits during this past week.
My brother was a very kind and considerate man to all - some who he had known for years and others whom he had just met. He really showed our family what strength really was during his last week of life - he wanted to make sure all of us would be okay- one thing I witnessed was "he processed" it all and gave lots of thought to dissolving his life at 55 - he was so brave.
He was a good brother, son and dad.
But, most of what I am proud of is his two children, Mikie and Leigh Anne - outstanding young adults - Kudos Jean and Dave for a job well done!
Pease continue to lift up our family as we find "our strength" to go forward with a huge hole in our hearts, may we honor his wishes, hold tight to all the memories, for the upcoming days.

I am so sorry. No words can make it easy for you. To know David was to Love him! He did so much for me at the store. I can still see him in his chair talking with us and I can still here his laugh. It Hurts every time I thank of all the good he did for me and every one. I will never for get the first time Dave and Kathy took me horse ridding for my birthday. I had never been on a horse, Dave stayed on one side and you Kathy was on the other side to make sure every thing went ok, and it did. We all ways had a good time ridding, or just hanging out.
