David Paul Stanley was born March 11, 1943, in Hope, Hempstead County, Arkansas to James Emless Stanley and Frankie Lee Ward. He graduated from Hope High School in 1961 and attended 3 semesters at Texarkana Junior College.

David enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserve on June 24, 1964. After serving 13 weeks at MCRD in San Diego, he then served 4 weeks of ITR at Camp Pendleton, CA. After that he was transferred to 29 Palms, CA for the duration of his 6 months active duty. He was discharged from active duty and immediately assumed his duties as a reservist at his local reserve unit in Texarkana, TX.

As a reservist David served one weekend each month and two full weeks annually in the USMRC for the next 6 years. David was promoted to Sergeant of the Reserve of the US Marine.

He was married to Shirley Moody, then married to Sonya Marcet until her death. He then married Ruth Aivaliotis in Las Vegas in July of 2007.

David was employed for over 43 years as an automobile parts consultant and parts manager. His Volkswagen career started at Moses VW in Texarkana, TX in 1968. David's most notable service was at Mahan VW in Houston, TX and DeMontrond VW in Houston, TX. While at Mahan VW, David served on various panels, councils, and committees for Volkswagen of America.

David was a vital part of the transition of computer companies serving the VW dealer network from V-Crest to ADP for every dealership in North America except Mexico. He was one of only four parts managers out of a total of 16 members representing more than 1,400 VW dealers. He moved from Hope, AR to his present address in Pearland, TX in 1979, and retired from Clear Lake VW on 04/30/2011.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Stanley. Daughter Bonnie Marcet and son Craig Marcet. His sister Wanda Olney and brother Donald Stanley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan Marcet, Brittany Marcet, Troy Thompson, and Trever Thompson.

He is Preceded in Death By his second wife, Sonya Stanley. His brother James Stanley and sister Norma Norwood, and his parents James and Frankie Stanley.
