David Rodell Steinbock was the first born son to Carl and Evelyne Steinbock on March 10, 1940, at the hospital in Clovis, New Mexico, close to their home in Muleshoe, Texas. As a young boy, the family moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he grew up with his younger brother Butch who was killed in a tragic accident when he was only 15 years old. Dave’s dad, Carl, was very ill after suffering a severe stroke and Dave became the man of the family farm when he was just twelve years old. This would define who Dave would become.

Dave wanted to serve his country. He served in the Oregon Army National Guard, and then enlisted with the US Air Force where he pursued his career in electronics. When he returned from the military, he met Christine Corral. They were married for 61 years, and raised one daughter, three sons, welcomed seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

One of the things that marked Dave’s character was his work ethic. Dave was a hard worker, and this was something that he instilled in all of his kids. This was most evident when the family moved to Sand Canyon in 1976, where he began the large task of building the family house. After working long hours at his job at Busch Gardens, he would put in countless hours of building what would eventually become a beautiful ranch house. When Busch Gardens closed down, Dave eventually became the Senior Electrical Foreman at Six Flags Magic Mountain where he was dedicated to his job and kept rides safe for 34 years.

Dave was a thinker, and you would often see him in his cowboy hat and cowboy boots, with his pipe in hand, studying schematics or programs to keep the rides safely running. Dave also enjoyed working his five acres, riding his John Deere tractor, getting work done.

In 1998, he and Chris moved to Santa Clarita into a newly built home and resided there until November of last year, when they moved to San Diego. He never complained as he battled the symptoms of COPD. He was always a very gracious patient, thanking the doctors and nurses for taking care of him. Our dad did not fear death and on Jan 19, 2025, he went home to be with his Lord Jesus. Dave enjoyed reading his Bible, especially in his later years of life. His favorite passage was Psalm 23.

The Steinbock family can credit their faith and trust in Jesus to our dad. He grew up in a Christian home. My mom’s deep love for her family and desire for us ALL of us to go to church together, lead us to start attending a small Christian church. My mom, my brothers and I, all came to know the Lord. We praise God for His plan for the Steinbock family.

Survived by his wife Christina Steinbock, children Terry, Michael, Don, Jeff and their spouses and 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
