David Wright Stewart

David Wright Stewart passed away peacefully at the Margaret Dozier Hospice house on February 27, 2026. He was 68 years old.

He was born in Tallahassee, FL on June 13,1957 to parents Hubbard E.(Buddy) Stewart and Virginia Wright Stewart.

He was a member of East Hill Baptist Church, where he assisted with the video and sound equipment during worship services on most Sunday mornings.

Shortly after graduating from Leon High School he began a lifelong career on the maintenance team at FSU's department of chemistry and biosciences until his retirement in November of 2025.During his time at FSU he was recognized for outstanding service and dedication to his work. He made many cherished friends. Whether at home or at work, helping others is what he did best, cheerfully lending a hand to anyone needing repairs, help with moving, or just wanting advice. He was devoted to his family and friends.

David was predeceased by his parents and his dog Wrinkles. He is survived by his siblings: Sara Stewart Shashy (Peter) of Montgomery, Al. Lee Stewart, Mark Stewart (Lisa), and Ginger Stewart Robertson (ROBERT), all of Tallahassee. Nephews: Scott and Matthew Shashy, Robert, Will, Sam and Ben Stewart, and Justin Robertson. Nieces: Meredith Sullivan and Stephanie Kimmel, plus several grand nieces and nephews and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at East Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14 at 11 A.M. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.

Flowers may be sent to East Hill Baptist church, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, the Leon County Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
