Sally and family...
Over the last several years Dave became my best friend and confidant... He was the most real and considerate man I've ever met. Thank you for sharing your wonderful husband, father and grandfather. I can only imagine how much you miss him... My thoughts are with you all.
Brightest blessings,
Jack Masanz

Mrs.Stoppel,Sandy, Keri,Mart and family ,
I am so sad to hear about your loss. As you know, he was very special to me too.
"Dad" was the only name I ever called Mr. Stoppel. He helped me through rough times when my own father was not around. His tender caring ways will never be forgotten. Thanks for the memories "Dad". I will never forget you!
The world has lost the most smart, gentle, caring man. Heaven is a better place now for sure.
Love always from one of your "snookum's".

Dave was like a sun around which many people orbited - some near, some far, but none able to escape his gravitational pull, nor ever wanting to. Alas, we are now all adrift. But we shall see him again on the last day.

Sally, Sandy, Keri and Marty,
We have thought of Dave often this week and want you to know of our admiration for your husband, father and grandfather.
Dave's leadership in the development of a general education curriculum, at the Crookston campus of the University, has had a profound influence in preparing thousands of students to thrive in today's environment.
Dave mentored many new faculty members with insight and sensitivity that changed our lives and the culture on the campus.
Sally and family .....take pride in how this wonderful man had a positive influence on so many of us.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Chip and I have fond memories of the times we spent together with both you and Dave during our working years with Congressman Bruce Vento. That was a season in our lives we will never forget. Take care.

Sally,
We all have such wonderful memories of our great times together. We had such fun. We will never forget, the plays we attended, the museums, the zoo, the State Fair and on and on.
We will miss him.

Dear Sally and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I remember Dave as warm and loving, but with a great sense of humor. His family was so important to him and his pride in all of you was wonderful to see. He will be missed.

To the Stoppel Family:
Mr. Stoppel was a teacher of mine at the University of Minnesota many, many years ago. I remember him as a friendly man who always answered my many questions.
Thank you for the memories at the UofM.
