David Dwight Stufffel, age 74, of Morristown passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on August 11, 2025 after a long illness. David worked at BASF, 25 years; and Tennessee Valley Custom Trailers, 27 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for East Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He professed his faith at an early age and was baptized at Morningside Baptist Church where he became a member and loved his church family and his special friend, Pastor Kenny Boling. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to garden, grill, and BBQ for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Callie Stuffel; and granddaughter, Kayla Cody.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Stuffel; children, Cindy Bird (Dason Stubblefield), Daniel and Codee Stuffel; grandchildren, Ayden and Kylee Stuffel, Hayley and Jacob Bird, and Emmy Stubblefield; sister, Marilyn Alvis; brother, Bobby Stuffel; nieces, Leslie Cribble (Devin), and Kathy Greene (Andrew); and nephew, Cody Carroll (Hannah).

The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Hospice and a special thank you to nurses, Kayli Whittaker and Patrick Miner, and chaplain, Billy Hite.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Morningside Baptist Church or East Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department in David's name.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Greene officiating. Graveside/interment services will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
