A great teacher. I had the privilege to work with him at CS until he retired. You will be missed.

Mr. Sutton dyed his hair purple once. Said that nobody was paying attention to him. So he dyed his hair purple and walked on top of the desks to make sure that everyone was paying attention to him.

Mr. Sutton: you were a mountain of a man. Not by physical size but by the measure of your heart. You found time for all of your students regardless of their academic achievements, regardless of their political stance in the community, or regardless others opinions of them. Your teaching methods at times may have been considered unorthodox, however, it worked! It worked well enough in fact that most of your students rose beyond your expectations. I really didn't need AP science but I chose it because you were the teacher. I didn't want to be lab aid on my study halls to anyone other than your classroom. Memories of you: you always messed my hair up as I would always have it combed nicely. You always told my parents they should consider having more kids than just my brother and I. I remember the first time we went out to dinner with a small group of students included and we ate at one of your local favortie restaurants: Cosloe's (if i recall correctly) and you ordered steak. You ordered it rare and it was barely warm on either side and you thoroughly enjoyed it - all of it. I remember the many home cooked meals - always from scratch from the bread all the way to dessert. You made your home always feel like home to all that were invited over.
Even though we had lost touch in recent years, i did not by any means forget you. I appreciated every conversation, every 4am Facebook message and everything you taught me not just academically, but also demonstrated sincerity, empathy, compassion, and just how to maneuver life in general. You will never be forgotten. I love you man!
