David A. Thiel
1973-2025
David A. Thiel, 70, Bovey, died Thursday, April 24, 2025 in his home. Born November 17, 1954 in Grand Forks, ND, he was the son of Russel and Delorice (Johnson) Thiel. He was a 1973 Graduate of Mason City, IA High School and a graduate of the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton, ND. A resident of Bovey, MN since 2002, he had also lived in North Dakota, Iowa, and Michigan. He was a master electrician and had worked for American Crystal Sugar, Potlatch, Ainsworth, and SAPPI, retiring in 2014. He and Linda had wintered in Palmview, TX for 10 years. David and Linda Schlepp were married on May 17, 1980 in Hillsboro, ND.
David was an outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, gardening and working in his yard, traveling to 49 states, snowmobiling and doing stained glass work. He was an avid Vikings and NASCAR fan.
His parents, Russel and Delorice and a niece, Amanda preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his son, Adam (Kathleen) and their daughter, Maija Jo; and siblings, Gary (Cindy), Linda Ritter, Kevin (Julie), Bruce (Fay); four nephews and four nieces.
