He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Nan McCoy Thurman.
He is survived by a son, David Thurman, Jr.; two daughters, Penny (Leland) O'Sullivan and Tammy Evans; three grandchildren; five brothers, Randell Thurman, Tommy Thurman, Tony Thurman, Mike Thurman and John Thurman.
Cremation was chosen.
Percell & Sons Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
