David Tinney positively impacted SO many lives, including hundreds of Lazy F campers/staff/volunteers, and made the world a better place, every single day, by being in it... He was one of the most inspirational people I've ever known, an amazing mentor since I was 15, the officiant of our wedding, and an outstanding "boss" I had the pleasure of working with for three years at Aldersgate! He was a tremendous advocate, stood for social justice on so many levels, showed compassion and Divine Love at every turn, and always pushed people to be their best selves. I am beyond grateful to have known him, and my life has surely been changed for the better because of it...Miss and love you, David Tinney!!!

David Tinney was a true colleague and friend whom I first met when he was serving at First UMC - Vancouver. We served the Emmaus community together with so much joy and laughter and profound holy moments. We were in a monthly covenant group. David had so much wisdom to share. I got to know Carol and see the love they shared. David inspired with bike rides and amazing photos and big visions. Building a Habitat House with the interfaith community was genius. AWhen I left Salmon Creek UMC early in May 2018 to take a call in Washington DC (as a Presbyterian minister) I passed the pastoral leadership to David. I could trust him to care for this beloved congregation. My prayers are with Carol and the family.

I just received the sad news that Dave passed away. His family and ours go back some 45 years to when he was the Chief Photographer for the Idaho Statesman in Boise, Idaho. We met Dave and Carol in a start-up Methodist church and our families quickly bounded as we shared so many things in common. Dave was blessed with more talent than 10 other people combined. Everything he did was nothing short of first class. Whether he was taking pictures, woodworking, fishing, hunting, or giving a sermon on a Sunday morning, Dave did it all very well. One of my fondest memories was when he, Steve Tollefson and I spent a day at the Mt. Angel seminary in Oregon on a quiet retreat in reflection of scripture through prayer and discussion. Dave and Carol also raised a beautiful family, and I remember the day their son, Billy, was born in Boise. Although, our families lost touch during the past several years, Carolyn and I have continued to hold Dave and his family in our hearts and prayers. Dave lived an exceptional life that touched so many people and I am eternally grateful to the Lord for bringing him into my life.

How sad to hear that the wonderful Pastor David Tinney passed away. With Carol by his side always they were great ministers for all. We had the privilege of being in the congregation of Pastor David and getting to know him in classes at First Church. We will never forget that experience. Our support goes out to the entire family.
