David Elonzo Tobe was born to the late Elonzo Tobe and the late Thelma Lee Williams on July 23, 1949 in Newark, New Jersey. He had a sister, Darrelle Tobe. David attended elementary school in Mississippi and Ohio. Upon his return to New Jersey, he graduated from Barringer High School in Newark. In July, 1970, he was drafted into the Army where he served for over twenty years. He worked at FedEx for over ten years as a supervisor. While at FedEx, David earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Rutgers University. He began his teaching career as a substitute teacher at 15th Ave School, Newark, NJ. David began teaching at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Newark in 1997. David taught various grades with a specialty in science. He earned his Master's Degree in Education Administration/Supervision from St. Peters University in Jersey City in May, 2009. In 2009, David entered into Holy Matrimony with Denise Parkin. With this union, two wonderful families were brought together. This includes son, Daniel Floyd; daughter, Amber Rose; two step-sons, Nicholas Andrew and Matthew Joshua; and two step-daughters, Melissa Lynn and Alexandra Michelle. David and Denise had one granddaughter, Aaliyah Shylynn. David's family was his greatest joy. His friends were very dear to him. David's hobbies included working on his computer, reading, music, gadgets, and comic books. He was an avid movie buff and enjoyed traveling, dancing, and going out to eat. On Sunday, August 23, 2009, David Elonzo Tobe laid back into the arms of our Lord. David leaves his memory to be cherished by: his loving wife, Denise Tobe of North Plainfield; son, Daniel Floyd Tobe of Newark; daughter, Amber Rose Tobe of Roselle Park; step-son, Nicholas Colasacco of Stanhope; step-son, Matthew Parkin of North Plainfield; step-daughter, Melissa Colasacco of Glassboro; step-daughter, Alexandra Colasacco of Glassboro; grand-daughter, Aaliyah Shylynn Tobe of North Plainfield; sister, Darrelle Tobe of Maplewood; brother-in-law, Ralph Terry of Maplewood; niece, Tanana Tobe of Watchung; great niece, Ashanti Johnson; great nephew, Shekiah Johnson; mother-in-law, Rolanda Parkin of Lakewood; special friends, Noah Jackson of Newark and Ben Kern of Virginia; and a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends.
