David Todd grew up around the historical Asheville Speedway, where he developed a passion for racing. He contributed to the local community by sponsoring to the local racecar circuit drivers. He knew and befriended many of the old school famous, legendary NASCAR/stockcar drivers.

He attended old Lee Edwards High school as an athlete & started working at age 14 for a long gone A&P grocery store as a bag boy. He enjoyed reading and had many hobbies. He spent time building miniature model kit cars, solving different math formulas for fun, nature walks, became a member of toastmasters, coached little league baseball and owned two show horses with one of his horses winning many awards for Racking category. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Todd Auto Sales, Southeastern Transmissions of Hendersonville & co-owned Western Carolina glass company with his cousin, the late Ed Todd, retired-commissioner for the city of Hendersonville. He finished his work life career with Ingles Corporation for the last 20 plus years until his retirement.

He was a devoted Christian. Most of all he dearly loved and cherished his family.
