David Arthur Treckman, 76, of Landrum, SC passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. He was born in Wabash, IN on December 30, 1949 to the late Frank Phillip and Helen Hughes Treckman.
David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Weapons Control System Mechanic on the F-4 Phantom aircraft. Following his military service, he remained committed to his community and fellow veterans as a member of American Legion Post 45.
Professionally, David worked for more than 45 years as a mechanical engineer in the automotive industry. A graduate of ITT, he was known for his strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and the high standards he set for himself and those around him. His organized and driven nature served him well throughout his career.
Outside of work, David was an avid world traveler and explored nearly every country in Europe with his best friend, Donna Scanlon. Among all the places he visited, Ireland and Germany held a special place in his heart. David also found great joy in woodworking. With patience and skill, he crafted beautiful furniture and family heirlooms that will be cherished for generations. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs, and he has now been reunited with his beloved Jack, Louie, Alex, and Albert.
Above all, David will be remembered for his love. He was a devout Catholic and devoted family man. He will be remembered with love by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Scott Treckman (Stephanie), Sabrina Kreischer (Jeff), and Wendy Hendrixson (Tim); grandchildren, Michael Sheppard, Lexie Quinn (Jordan), Taylor Kreischer, Riley Kreischer (Maribeth), Jonathan Sheppard, Courtney Anders, Katelynn Treckman, Landen Kreischer, Abby Kreischer, and Julia Kreischer; great-grandchildren, Aria, Brooklyn, Ellie, Autumn, and Wyatt; and sister, Anne Weiss (Les). In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA.org)
