David Wayne Trostle, who was better known as Dave, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025 and was surrounded by family and close friends while taking his final breath.
Born March 3, 1959 in York, he was a son of the late Wayne L. and Helen (Grove) Trostle. On May 3, 1986 he married the former Soonseeah R. Smith, and together they spent 39 wonderful years together.
Dave was a retired ordained elder in the United Methodist Church after 39 years, serving in various churches throughout the Susquehanna Conference.
He was an avid Civil War buff with his focus on the Gettysburg part of the war. His claim to fame was being an ancestor to the Trostle family who owned the Trostle Farm in Gettysburg.
In addition to his wife, Soonseeah, he is survived by two children: Rebecca L. (Jaron) Parker, and Abigail L. (Brett Smyers) Trostle; two step-children: Tara A. (Christopher) Trickett, and Dawn M. (Thomas) O'Neill; three grandchildren: Maggie R. Parker, Jade L. Parker, and Rowan W. Smyers; four step-grandchildren: Victoria D. Trickett, Jacob M. Trickett, Addison R. O'Neill, and Brendan T. O'Neill; and two step-great-grandchildren: Adelaide N. Trickett and Xavier Q. Trickett.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, at Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, 2985 Broadway Rd, Milton, with Pastor Timothy Darling and Rev. David Dearing, officiating. Family and friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
