My condolences to Dave's family. He was a wonderful person as well as mailman. During my recovery from back surgery in 2002, he was a constant supporter as well as encourager!

We were so sad to learn of Dave's passing. He was the best mailman. He always had a smile on his face, a funny story to tell or a kind word. Dave had a great attitude and we know he fought the good fight. He will truly be missed. Our dog, Vivian, will really miss his treats! We know he's in heaven giving doggy treats to all the angel-dogs! Sincerely, The Ponterotto family, New Canaan

Dave will be missed by all who grew to know him as their mailman. He was much more to all of us. He was our friend. When i developed cancer, he always encouraged me to keep my chin up and .he assured me that my hair would come back! When the deliveries came late,he would deliver the mail to the front door, so that I wouldn't have to go out in the dark. He was wonderful and caring,my husband and I will miss him.

Dear Cheryl and Family,
You have my sincerest sympathy. I was away when I heard of Dave's passing. I've known Dave since elementary school, I was looking at the old Spy&Patriot from Junior High School, he still looked the same.He was a kind person with a gentle heart, he was one of the few people who made school bearable, he will be missed.

Jack and I were saddened and shocked to read of David's passing in the Advertiser today.

He wasn't just our letter carrier. Over the many years he delivered the mail, we became friends.
David always had a friendly greeting, a happy smile, a wave when we passed along the way.

When Jack's father moved from across the street to assisted living, David made sure his mail
was delivered to our address.

We will miss him.

Our sincere condolences,

Dave was our mail carrier and much more over many years. We looked forward to seeing him often and hearing about his martial arts. We shall miss him greatly and send our sympathy to Cheryl and the rest of his family. We felt lucky to know him as long as we did. What a fighter!
Our thoughts are with you all. I just had a knee replacement so can't attend the funeral, but know we're thinking of the family.

Dear Cheryl,

I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing and now laugh at pre-high school days when I felt intimidated by his stature (I got over it when I grew to 4 feet 11.95 inches). It was no surprise to later learn of his long-time martial arts achievements. I will remember him fondly as a gentle giant and pray that you and your families will be comforted with memories.

Dear Cheryl,
Speaking with Dave at several points during the most recent NHS'71 reunion (8/2006) was delightful. May his memory be a source of blessing and comfort for you and your extended family.

Dearest Cheryl,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Dave was one of my most favorite people growing up. At one of our past reunions, we took a very special picture that hangs on my refridgerator of a group of us that were all in kindergarten together at Fitch School. It is one of my most proudest pictures....I show it to everyone that visits our home. Please know you are in my thoughts and Dave is on to the "next place," in true sync with the angels.
My deepest sympathy, Carmel Fabian

David was a part of lives and we were blessed by his presents and his friendship.

At C & H Auto in New Canaan, we had a lot of contact with Dave, the mail trucks get their gas here, for many years we put the chains on in the winter and did minor repairs. Dave was fun. Dave was a joker and could always put a smile on a face. But could get into a serious discussion on all subjects. He loved to talk guns with Toby, they were both collectors. Dave will be greatly missed by us. His family is in our thoughts and prayers.
