David Wallace Obituary

David Wallace CHARLESTON - David Gordon Wallace, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Laura Williams Wallace, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 2, 2023. His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in the Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in the Columbarium followed by a reception at Bishop Gadsden's Blackmer Hall. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. David was born December 27, 1936, in Alexandria, Virginia, son of the late John Henry Wallace and Beatrice Seay Wallace. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Mechanical Engineering. David served as an Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army and retired from General Electric after a career that spanned over 40-years. David's last assignment with GE was with Power Systems in Tokyo, Japan, where he handled GE's largest customer in the world, Tokyo Electric Power Company. David had a passion for community service and served on many of Charleston's charitable Boards, including the United Way, Storm Eye Institute at MUSC, where he served as President, and the Heart and Vascular Center at MUSC. As a member of the Country Club of Charleston, David was an avid golfer, reader and always stayed abreast of current events. David and Laura started their life in Charleston at Kiawah Island, then moved to Vendue Range and have lived happily at Bishop Gadsden for the past 13-years. David and Laura loved traveling and visited many domestic and international destinations following their retirement in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura; daughter, Debbie Wallace Woods (Bob) of San Marcos, TX; son, David G. Wallace, Jr. (Jeni) of Houston, TX; sister, Grace Ann Aeschleman (Van) of Olympia, WA; eight grandchildren: Parker Carroll (Ashlee), Peyton Carroll (Jamie), Maggie Caudle (Lance), Will Woods, Whitney Andrews (John), Jacquelyn Duplantis (Cody), Jett Scarborough and Reese Scarborough; and multiple great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by a grandson, Spencer Woods. Memorials may be made in Dave's honor to the Employee Appreciation Fund of Bishop Gadsden (), Storm Eye Institute () or MUSC Heart And Vascular ().
