AIKEN - David Vaughn Wallace, 78, loving husband of Deborah Dukes Wallace, died on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers after a brief illness.
He was a son of the late Dr. Richard M. and June F. Wallace.
A native of Lawrence, Kansas, David attended Aiken County public schools and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was a social worker with the S.C. Department of Social Services and later with Helping Hands. David was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he helped with establishing the pre-school program.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Debbie; brothers, Dr. Richard Wallace Jr. of Spartanburg, Jeffrey Wallace (Mary Lou) of Aiken, Dr. Brian Wallace (Cheryl Enders) of Bexley, OH, and Kevin Wallace (Alice) of Pittsburgh, PA; his dear mother-in-law, Vera (Mom) Dukes of Aiken; sister-in-law, Cheri Gilmore (Wayne); brother-in-law, Jeff Dukes (Debbie), all of Aiken; aunt and uncle, Bruce and Jean Forry of Canonsburg, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his "favorite dog" Augi.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 E. Pine Log Road, with the Rev. Tyler Strange officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m.
