David Wallin Obituary

Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A memorial service for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, with a
visitation one hour before at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be held at
Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson
Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com
David was born on August 22, 1969, to Dennis and Darlene (Perkins) Wallin in Kansas City,
MO. He graduated from Algona High School in Algona, IA.
David was a member of the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church. He was also a member of
Aktion Club and The Special Olympics.
David enjoyed competing in sports and was a Special Olympics gold medalist at the state,
national and international level in gymnastics, biking, track and field and bowling. His joyful
personality was infectious as he was always quick with a hello, high five or thumbs up. He loved
good coffee, soda pop (just one a day, he'd tell you!), the Kansas City Chiefs, video games,
coloring books and was always proud to introduce his family to anyone he met. Once you got to
know David, from then on you were a recipient of a David Wallin hug!
He is survived by his mother Darlene Wallin of Spirit Lake; brothers Dr. Doug (Missy) Wallin of
Viborg, SD; Dan (Nicole) Wallin of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews. David was happy to
have shared his life with the staff and friends at Shepherds Cottage in Burt, Exceptional
Opportunities in Algona, Hope Haven in Spirit Lake and Village Northwest in Sheldon. David's
family are forever grateful for the loving care these wonderful people provided for him over the
years.
He was preceded in death by his father.
