David Wanker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 11, 2024.

Funeral services for David (Davy) Harold Wanker, 59, of Leland will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Glendale Baptist Church. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. He went to Heaven on October 9, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and friends.
Davy accepted our Lord and Savior just a short while ago and his wish was to live long enough to be sure that his siblings, children, nieces, and nephews were also saved so that he could spend eternity with them in heaven.
Davy was the baby of the family. Davy was a kind and gentle soul until you messed with his family or friends then it would be "Katy, bar the door". You better hit the door running because trouble was heading your way. You never had to wonder if Davy liked you or not, if he liked you, he would worry the dog stink out of you, if he didn't like you then he just wouldn't talk to you. He was a wee bit of a wild child also. There are stories that could be told but some things are better left unsaid. There was no shame to his game. He would say things in front of his Mama just to see her horrified reaction then just laugh. He also loved to aggravate Nancy by making out like he was a victim, and she was so mean to him. All she could do was laugh at him. Davy was very hard of hearing and sometimes used that to his advantage. If it was something he didn't want to do, then he claimed he didn't hear you and then gave you that little devilish smile of his.
Davy loved and was so proud of his sons, nieces and nephews. He was always loving on them when they were babies and picking and playing with them as they got older. He was Alayna's Uncle Baby. One of the things Davy was most proud of was his son Dawson and the songs Dawson wrote and recorded. He would always ask "Have you heard Dawson's new song? It's so awesome!" Davy was a sound-man for several musicians back in the day and he loved listening to live music. Davy was so proud of his nieces and nephews who played sports. He was always bragging about them. Davy had some close friends that he loved to play cards with and back in the day he loved going fishing with Mr. Brooks. Davy was a great carpenter. He loved to build things. Many of his clients said he wasn't just their carpenter, he was their friend.
Davy was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Betty Wanker. He leaves behind the love of his life Nancy, his three sons Dawson (Melissa), Bennie, and Patrick (Maddie), 3 grandchildren Levi, Freya, and Cade. Two brothers Bruce (Lisa) and Gary and one sister Kathy (Ted) and a ton of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
The memories that he leaves behind will forever bring a smile to our faces and a chuckle to our hearts. Davy was one of a kind, one of the good ones. Fly high Davy, maybe Jesus will let you be the sound-man for the angels.

Davy was so fun to be around at family reunions and aunt Betty always gave that special look and you knew she meant business. I am so sorry for your loss and praying for your family. He is in heaven now and can give Tim, Clint, aunt Betty and uncle Wayne a hard time. I am praying for your family in this difficult time.
