Arthur David Ward, 67, of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Axiom Healthcare in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born on July 12, 1958, in Salem, the son of Arthur Harry and Janice P. (Berry) Ward. He married the love of his life, Carol Scott on July 12, 1986.

Survivors that will hold dear memories of David include his beloved wife, Carol Ward; his dear son, David Allen Ward and fiancée, Ashley Waller; step-children, Curtis Joe Mark Scott, Trina Marie Scott; several grandchildren; brother, Jeff Ward; aunt Vicky and husband Terry; special friends, Donnie Boothman, and Jeff Hickey; and extended family members and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Janice Ward; brothers, Steve Ward, Wade Ward.

David's adventurous spirit gave him the passion for the art of racing. He competed in a variety of races including motorcycles, stock cars, and drag cars. David enjoyed wood-working, choosing the perfect type of wood for each project he worked on. He was loved and appreciated dearly by all his family and friends.

David will be laid to rest at Andereck McClelland Cemetery in rural Sandoval. Memorials may be made in David's honor to Andereck McClelland Cemetery and will be accepted for his family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
