David Warren, age 74, of Calvin, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1951, the son of the late Floyd and Dora Bailey Warren.
David was not only a beloved family man but also a respected member of the Middlesboro community. Along with his mother and father-in-law, he was a long-time proprietor of Engles Market, a cherished institution in Middlesboro that bears witness to his dedication and hard work. Prior to owning and operating Engles Market, David made his mark as a builder and contractor, demonstrating his exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to quality.
A gracious host, David had a passion for cooking for his family and friends, always ensuring that there was an abundance of food. He believed in the warmth of hospitality and always had an extra plate for anyone who might be in need of a meal or companionship. His spirit of generosity extended far beyond the kitchen.
David was an active member of the Middlesboro Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #119, one of the oldest lodges in the nation, for many years. Additionally, he was a committed member and deacon of the River View Baptist Church, where he nurtured his faith and helped build a community of fellowship.
David adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent in their company. His legacy of love and devotion continues through them, and he will be fondly remembered for the affection and joy he brought into their lives.
David was preceded in death the love of his life, Jeannie Kay Engle Warren, who he was married to for 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother and father, Floyd and Dora Bailey Warren; as well as his father-in-law, Argenis Engle; mother-in-law, Mary Engle Coign and step father-in-law, Jack Coign; and brother, Steve Warren.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Christy Warren Mills and her husband, Eric Mills; son, David Warren and his wife, Jessica Warren; grandchildren, Ryan, Alexandra (Bryan) Kain, Devin, Logan, Emily, Rachel, Seren and Maceo; great grandchildren, Emery, Layla, Maddox, Grant, Sawyer and Brooks; brothers, Scott (Shannon) Warren, Michael (Connie) Warren, Larry (Dinah) Warren, and Doug (Teresa) Warren; sisters, Elizabeth Denny, and Betty Sue (Jerry) Edds; caretaker and mother of his grandchildren, Alexandra and Ryan; Melissa Matthews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of David Warren will receive friends on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY, with Pastor David King and Reverend Steve Phipps presiding. Music will be provided by singers from Shiloh Church.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, where graveside services will be held. Pallbearers will be Byron Johnson, John Tyler Marion, Matthew Robertson, Ray Johnson, Scott Warren, Michael Warren, Larry Warren, and Grant Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Warren.
