David Eugene Welty, of Watervliet, Michigan, peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on July 18, 1945, David lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 1969 to November 1974, where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars. His honorable service remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

David was a devoted family man. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Tyner, two granddaughters, Kailey and Allie Brooks, brother James (Georgia), and his sister Elizabeth. David is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Winnifred, as well as his parents, Dave and Imogene Welty, and brother Robert Welty.

A celebration of life will be held at the VFW Post #3227 in St. Cloud at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 19th. Family, friends, and those whose lives David touched are invited to join in remembering his legacy.

It has been said that the greatest thing you can do for someone other than yourself is to inspire them. Mr Welty inspired many people to do and become many things. He did more than teach us. He helped us become better people.
Thanks Dave
