David Wensink Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2024.
Franklin - David Wensink (World), age 80, of Franklin, WI passed away on Apr. 8th, 2024 surrounded by his family. Dave was born on Dec. 30th, 1943 and was the son of John Wensink and Delia (Preder) Wensink. On July 10th, 1965, was married to Susan Mary (Sicotte) Wensink, where they remained together for 58 years.

David graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1962 and often talked about one of his greatest memories which was playing in the basketball State Tournament in 1962. He was honorably employed at UPS for 30 years as a driver and manager and still maintains countless friends and memories.

David loved to golf, especially in the Whitnall men's senior league where he was the President for many years. Dave had an astounding 5 hole-in-ones over the years. Most of all David loved spending time with family and friends and would spend many weekends watching his grandchildren play ball. In the last weeks of his life, he would often say "I had a great life, I'm so lucky to have a loving wife along with great kids and grandkids. I'm lucky".

David was one of a kind, with a huge personality and always making people smile. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh.

David is survived by his wife Susan Wensink, sons John (Laura) Wensink and David (Jody) Wensink and grandchildren; Susan, Sarah, Myana, Isabelle, Will, Emma, Lucas and Allie.

David was preceded in death by his oldest Son Dan Wensink, sister Ginny Weber, nephews Sid Sicotte and Mike Weber. There will be a private family service held at a later date. Condolences at sunsetoptions.com.

I worked with Dave in La Crosse. What a great friend and partner he turned out to be. Dave was always supportive and would go out of his way to help in all situations. But Dave was also very much a family person. I will never forget the fishing trip we did to Canada with his family. Also the center management team parties/get togethers were great. If Dave couldn't make you laugh, then no one could.
One peak day we had 2 drivers call in sick. We scrambled to get all the packages on the other cars. With a few left-over Dave said he would divide them up equally amongst us and the last person done had to buy lunch. He guaranteed he would have the most stops. I ran my tail off because I did not want to buy lunch. When I got in, Dave had already changed into his suit. The other 2 people came in about 15 minutes later. You might ask "How did he do it?". If you remember in the olden days you had to get signatures or deliver the package to a neighbor. But there was one exception. FIGIS (cheese) had release numbers on their packages. Dave delivered about 10 more stops that any of the others. All he delivered was Figis boxes. But that was Dave.
I'm sure Dave will be missed by so many people.
Judy and I wish the best for his family. Bruce Woods

After playing golf three times a week for fifteen years your absence will be deeply missed. Your friendship has meant a great deal to me. My wife will miss your spirited baseball discussions with her.
Golf will never be the same without you. Rest in peace good friend.
