David Herbert Williams, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late E.B. Williams and Ella K. Williams. David spent his early years in the Dunean mill village where he embraced the values of hard work and community that would guide him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Parker High School and Furman University, David dedicated over four decades to the accounting profession, retiring as Vice President of Finance at Orders Distributing Co. after serving with them for 21 years.
David attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He cherished the simple joys of life, particularly reading and dining out with family and friends. He is remembered for his quiet generosity.
David is survived by his two daughters, Kay Williams and Molly Cornwell; four grandchildren, Jacob Cornwell (Alyssa), Michaila Cornwell, Melody Cornwell, and Willow Cornwell; and sister, Patsy Putnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Judy Williams; son, Jeffrey Williams; and a sister, Catherine Williams.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Comfort Keepers and Agape Care for their exceptional care of David in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life during a visitation on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. David will be laid to rest at Graceland East Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Calvary Baptist Church C/O Missions, 1430 Hampton Ave. Ext., Greenville, SC 29601.
