David O. Winstead, age 82, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at West River Health Campus.

David was born on June 16, 1943, in Evansville to the late Carrol O. and Margaret T. (Oakley) Winstead. David was a 1962 graduate of Reitz High School. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 and was stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. He worked for International Steel, Mead Johnson and later Koch Originals. David enjoyed watching old western movies and sports, especially IU football and basketball. David and his wife, Barbara, were married on Sweetest Day, October 19, 1968.

Surviving David are his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Wolf) Winstead; a daughter, Julie Winstead; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Robyn Winstead; grandchildren, Jonathan Winstead, Addison Winstead, Mason Fletcher, Easton Fletcher, Grayson Winstead and Hollyn Winstead, and nephew, Rick (Linda) Wolf. Also surviving David are sisters-in-law, Joan Winstead and Judy Whitney; brother-in-law, Mike Wolf and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Pat Wolf and brother-in-law, Ralph Winstead.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. Lowell Will officiating. Burial will take place in Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters, Kentucky.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 2701 W. Franklin Street.

David's family extends a special thank you to the staffs of Heart to Heart Hospice and West River Health Campus Legacy Lane for all of their kind and compassionate care.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Parish, 1600 Glendale Ave, Evansville, IN 47712, to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
