“A wild heart, a heavy foot, and boots that knew every dance floor in town”

David was born February 17, 1965 to Laveda Westbrook in Longview, TX. His childhood and teenage years were spent with his Granny, Lettie. He attended Longview ISD as he became a ‘Jack of All Trades, but Master of None’ graduating in 1982. In his prime, David could be found two stepping at The Rio or The Levee on the weekends – weekdays, too, as he did not discriminate.

It has been said that he could not keep a set of wheels under him because he thought every vehicle was a hot rod. He soon figured out that even a 90s Plymouth Horizon could do donuts in reverse – in the snow.

Within Longview and surrounding areas, you can find many homes that David replaced roofs, painted exterior & interior, and shared his knowledge of handyman services.

David had a love for MT Dew & Bodacious sloppy joes, oftentimes showing up to split them with grandchildren while popping his hood for his son, Derrick, to work on his current vehicle.

Life was lived to the fullest by David; he lived life by his rules and only his. He left no trace other than his children – Derrick, Morgan, & Bonnie.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Laveda and grandson, Adain.

Left to carry on his legacy is Derrick (Katie) of Kilgore, Morgan (Mark) of Harleton, and Bonnie of Oklahoma. Nine grandchildren – Dillon, Bradley, Jaxon, Ryleigh, Levi, Kohlson, Bostyn, Garrett, and Lexi Jo. Siblings Jimmy Woods of Longview, and Rose Edwards of Longview. Numerous nieces, nephews, and slew of cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
