David Works Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence on Feb. 6, 2026.
David Wayne Works, Sr., 62, of Owenton, KY, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2026. Born September 28, 1963, in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Larry Eugene Works and Ruth B. Kennedy.

Dave was the beloved husband of Mary Seibert Works; dear dad to David Works, Jr. (Chasity Hornsby), Tiffany Works, and Heather Works (Chris Buemi) and a treasured brother to Jessica Works, Cherlyn Arkenau, and Scott Works. He was also a proud grandpa of Kendall, Kelsey, Wesley, Addison, Avery, Mikel, Damian, and Hailey and a stepson to Pamela Works. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry Eugene Works, Jr.

Dave was known to relish a nice cup of coffee and his sweet tooth was legendary. He even kept a secret candy drawer to stow away his favorites: Twix, Butterfinger and other delicious chocolate treats.

Serving as a utility line worker for many years at Duke Energy, Dave installed residential gas lines. While he worked hard to provide for his family, he also took any chance he could get to whisk them away to Lake Cumberland. And while it could be said that sometimes everyone didn't quite share his enthusiasm or zeal for boating, camping and fishing, they couldn't deny that Conley Bottom was not just his, but their happy place as well. Loads of quality time on the water, where they people watched from the marina and laughed for hours. His loss will leave a large hole in many hearts. His love for family and friends was indisputable and like everything else in his life, never generic.

Dave will be celebrated on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051. Friends and family will gather to find solace in one another's company, listen to some of his favorite music and honor him. Please come to share stories and memories from 5:00 PM until shortly before the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM. Following the funeral service, Dave will be cremated in a private ceremony and will rest at home with his family before his ashes are scattered at a later date.
