David Wright

David Wright, 68 of Pittsburgh, went to be with the Lord, November 17, 2024. He arrived joyfully into this world on November 21, 1955 from the late Mr. David Sewell and Mrs. Geraldine Wright-Shields. He was raised in Elmore Square and served in the U. S. Marines at a young age for a short time. He worked at City Parks & Recreation as well as doing maintenance at Highland Park Zoo. David also loved playing basketball (in the paint big man post up power forward). His street hustle was washing cars. One thing for sure is he knew how to make your car shine even if he just had water.
David was preceded in death by his father David Sewell, step-father Alfred John Shields, brothers Terry Shields, Ronnell Shields and brother-in-laws Roger L. Travis and Minister Dean Wilson.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, mother Mrs. Geraldine Wright-Shields; wife Sharon Wright; brothers Darnell Shields and Alfred John Shields; sisters Paula Shields, LaRuth Shields, Gerry Shields-Travis, Goldette Shields and Sheila Shields-Wilson; sons David Bunndy, David Wright (DJ) and Terry Darnell Wright; daughters Denise Smith, Nakisha Wright, Kezia; grandchildren Shakeila, Shakara, Shakur, Astaisa, Davicia, Rhinia, Allen, Day'quan, Damontae, and Aniya; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate David's life (on his birthday) Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2001 Wylie Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Viewing will be from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, followed by the service will be at 12:00 pm.
