David Ellis Wright, 73, passed away in a Fort Worth hospital, surrounded by his family that loved him so much, from multiple health issues, when his recent cancer diagnosis took a turn for the worse on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Dave was born on April 15, 1952 to Betty and Kenneth Wright in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Oak Cliff. He has worked in the electrical industry for over 50 years. Dave moved to Brock with his wife, Pat Wright, where they later had two sons, Kenny and John Wright. His boys were a very important part of his life. Everything we did, had their interest in mind!

Dave loved to work, hunt, ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers, cars and trucks, trap shooting, and just about everything. He loved simple things like binge watching movies, listening to music and just merely sitting around telling stories. Dave was the best story teller ever! You just had to make sure you had a lot of time, because they were never short and usually a little embellished! He had the most beautiful blue eyes and they just danced when he was telling one of his famous stories.

Dave was also blessed to have a wonderful “work family” with Texas Lighting Sales for 35 years. They have always been there for him through all his health issues and are some of his closest friends. He loved to work and loved the folks he worked with! We thank them all so much! Dave also had another group that went out to shoot trap – that group was nicknamed the “Shade Tree Group”. You can bet lots of stories were exchanged there, and lots of trading, and who knows what else!

Dave at home was the calm to the crazy house! They have always said that opposites attract. I could always count on him to talk me off the ledge when I was stressed, as he just gave you the feeling that all was going to be ok! He was calm and goofy and just had that huge personality that drew everyone close to him! We will all miss him so very much!

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wright; mother, Betty Wright Spillars; and his step-father, Bill Spillars.

He leaves behind his wife, Pat Wright; children, Kenny Wright and wife, Maegan, and John Wright and his wife, Morgan; grandchildren, Minnie Wright, Ruby Wright, Johnson Wright, and Brody Aydelotte; brother, Paul Wright and wife, Trish; and many nieces and nephews. He also had another son from a prior marriage, Adam Wright and two more grandchildren, Abbey and Ivan.
