David Wayne Wright, 69, of Carterville, Illinois, finished his earthly race and is hearing "Well done" from his Heavenly Father.

David was born on May 31, 1956 to Kenneth and Barbara, nee Boswell, Wright.

Surviving is the love of his life, Christie, nee Brimm, whom he married on May 30, 1987. David was a loving father of Christine (Paul) Bliss of Staunton, TX. Kenneth John (Kristine) Wright of Cheyenne, WY, Scarlet (Darian) Godwin of Cartervile, IL, and Caleb (Maribeth) Trexler of Herrin, IL; He was PawPaw to Michael, Samantha, Matthew (Mollie), Andrew, Lillyann, Hazlee, Benjamin (Makayla), Olivia, Kylie, Kenzie, and Kayden; along with five great grandchildren. All who he doted upon. David is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Ray (Julie) Wright of Waterloo, IL and one niece, Heather (Chris) Liverar of Arnold, MO.

David was a proud American veteran, who served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a devoted member of the West Monroe Apostolic Church, where he was active in the prayer ministry, Kids Church, and the Drama Team.

In following David's wishes a private cremation was held. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at West Monroe Apostolic Church, 1609 West Monroe St,, Herrin, Illinois. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family and flowers may be sent to the church.

Braun Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Mr. Wright.
