David Wycuff Obituary
David Lee Wycuff, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
He was born on April 26, 1961 to the late Charles J. Wycuff and was a 1979 graduate of Hamilton Township High School.
He was a self-taught bass guitar player and by the age of 14, he dedicated his life to Christ and to playing gospel music. For the next 50 years he traveled around Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia with The Heaven Bound Singers, One Way Gospel Singers, and Brothers of the Cross.
Dave lived a life marked by compassion and service to others. He was always a phone call away for a friend and used his many skills to help with home improvement and audio engineering projects.
He retired in 2012 from the State of Ohio after a career of managing state-owned buildings, most notably contributing to the restoration and overseeing maintenance of The Ohio Statehouse.
Dave was a member of Hilock Fellowship Church where he devoted his time as a trustee and in music ministry. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, hiking in the mountains, fishing, and golfing.
Of all of his achievements, he was most proud of his family. Dave married Linda on August 1, 1981 and they enjoyed 44 years of doing life together. She survives, along with children Megan (Columbus) and Zach (Cincinnati), mom Carolyn Wycuff, brother Jeff Wycuff, and a host of treasured friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Lucian and Willie Wellman, lifelong friend Rev. David Adkins, and mentors Rev. Eddy Back, Sr. and Willard Meadows.
The family is thankful for the love and support from their HFC family, the Adkins/Ferrell family and many others who supported them during this journey.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 12, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at O.R. Woodyard South Chapel, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, 43207. Pastor Michael Back will officiate the service on Saturday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Hilock Fellowship Church, 805 Corr Rd., 43207. Burial to follow at Concord Cemetery in Grove City.
