David was born on March 4, 1937, at home in the Town of Denmark, NY, a son of
the late Ezra and Marion Moshier Yousey. He first attended school in
Castorland, then at Lowville Academy, and graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1954. He worked on the family farm. On
September 22, 1961, he married Marie Zehr at Lowville Mennonite Church with
Rev. Lloyd Boshart, officiating. Together with his wife they took over the
neighbor's (Bert Schantz) farm and continued to own and operate it for many years
until their son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Gina, purchased the farm. However, he continued to be very involved and especially enjoyed harvesting crops.
He was a charter member of Naumburg Mennonite Church, remaining active throughout his life. David enjoyed reading, fishing, and helping his brothers produce maple syrup. For a number of years, he serviced Mast-Lepley silos locally. He especially treasured time spent with his family at gatherings, entertaining his listeners with stories.
