David Thomas Zachary passed away on July 29, 2025 at the age of 96. David was predeceased by his wife Anne, his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, and a nephew. He is survived by his two daughters, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces, three cousins, several first cousins once removed, a great niece, and a great nephew.

David was born in Macon, Georgia. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948. After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 1952, he moved to Atlanta, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Lily Anne Fennell. They were married three months after they met and were together for 59 years, until Anne's death in 2011. David and Anne lived in Decatur, Georgia for 20 years and moved to Tucker, Georgia in 1972. Most recently, David lived in Snellville, Georgia.

David was an avid artist/painter. His watercolor painting, Red Suspenders, was accepted for the Fifth Southeastern Annual Exhibition at the Atlanta High Museum of Art in 1950. Although he did not pursue a career in painting, he continued to enjoy and produce gorgeous watercolor paintings throughout his life. David was devoted to his wife and daughters. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a very positive outlook on life. He enjoyed gardening, reading, following and studying the weather, and spending time with his family.
