Davie Ray Wood, "Lightning", age 79, born February 6, 1947 in Edmond Fayette (Hico) West Virginia, and passed February 13, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his son David Richard Wood- "Rich", his mother Nellie Mathes Atkinson, father Richard Randolph Wood, and 14 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Janet C Allen, sister Maybelle VanHorn (deceased husband Bill), sister Della Ruth Miller (deceased husband Danny), and brother John Wood (Pam). Also survived by many nieces & nephews, family & friends.

Davie worked all of his life as a Semi Truck Driver. He worked at US Truck, Bennett Motor Express for 17 + years where he received Recognition Award for good driving and a Million Miles. After retiring he went to drive semi trucks & wreckers for Adlers for 23 + years.

David belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 1230 & The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #182. Lightning has an abundance of family & friends. He loved spending time with family especially at Reed Park & Cheboygan for summer holidays, and local family for the rest of the holidays & family reunions. He also enjoyed his friends and family at Cheers. Lightning enjoyed the Woodward Cruise, Nascar, darts, cards & camping & horseshoes.

Davie was one of a kind that will be missed beyond measure. He was a fun loving, dedicated person with a great attitude, and always had a smile for you.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 12-2 with a funeral service at 2 PM. There will be a luncheon celebration of life given by family immediately following service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 1230, 289 W Montcalm Pontiac 48342.
