Davion Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitley Memorial Funeral Home - Kalamazoo on Jul. 26, 2023.
Davion Lamar Johnson, commonly known as "Dav," was born June 21, 2002, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI to Randall Deneille Johnson of Benton Harbor, MI and Jamie Nicole Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI. Davion departed this life on July 23, 2023 at the age of 21. He attended Kalamazoo Public Schools after beginning in Vicksburg Community Schools. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School "early" and walked the stage June 2020. After graduating, he worked a few jobs, but Walmart and Security Plus were his favorites.
Davion enjoyed spending time with and checking up on his family. He was always the first to offer assistance if there was anything he could do to help. Davion enjoyed playing video games with his friends, which he took very seriously. He also loved cooking, baking brownies, going out bowling with his family and friends, travelling, making new memories and he had a love for money.
Davion was highly devoted to his family and friends but spent a lot of his time with his long-term girlfriend, Shatonia Anderson. Together they enjoyed taking trips, trying new restaurants, going on late night car rides, singing and dancing with each other, praying and watching their nephews and nieces.
Davion had a special love for his nephew Dakari. He would pick up his nephew and take him to get ice cream, shopping and to the park all the time where he loved to have Davion push him in the swing. Dakari named him "His Davion."
Davion had a lot of friends he hung out with, but he had a special group he did everything with from trick-or-treating to basketball to boxing to working jobs together.
Davion left behind to cherish his memory, his mother Jamie Johnson (Finley) of Kalamazoo, father Randall (Chana) Johnson of Benton Harbor, his grandmother Debbie Finley of Kalamazoo, sister Dominique Gordon of Kalamazoo, sister Takeela Davis of Alabama, brothers David (Kimberly) Davis and Dannell (Shakera) Davis, all of Alabama, a special nephew Dakari Gordon and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Davion was preceded in death by his grandfather James Devers, Jr., grandparents Benjamin and Mary Johnson and great grandmother Pauline Gill.
